Privacy Policy

Privacy isn't a feature for us — it's a design constraint. We've structured this policy into two parts: one covering our hardware products and services, and one covering our webshop. They have different data needs, so we keep them separate and honest.
§ 1.1

What we collect

Anonymised telemetry

When a device is connected to our online session control server, we collect anonymised telemetry data to understand how products are performing and where we can improve. This data contains no personally identifiable information whatsoever.

What's collected

Feature interactions, session durations, performance metrics.

What's never collected

IP addresses, device serial numbers, user accounts, or any persistent identifiers.

When it's collected

Only during active sessions connected to our server. Offline use = zero data.

Why there's no opt-out: The reason we can't offer a telemetry opt-out is actually the same reason telemetry is private — we have no way to link data to a specific device or user. An opt-out system would require us to store an identifier to remember your preference, which would be worse for your privacy than the telemetry itself.

Third-party infrastructure

Some service providers we rely on — such as Cloudflare — may collect metadata like IP addresses when your device connects through their infrastructure. This is governed by their own privacy policies, not ours. See Cloudflare's Privacy Policy for details.

How we use the data

Anonymised telemetry is used strictly to:

  • Improve the performance and reliability of our products.
  • Identify and resolve technical issues.
  • Understand aggregate usage patterns to guide new features.

We don't sell it. We don't share it. We don't profile anyone with it.

§ 1.3

Storage & retention

Anonymised telemetry is stored securely and retained only as long as it's useful for improving the product. We don't hold onto it indefinitely. No personal data is stored — because we never collect it in the first place.

Your rights

Because we collect no personally identifiable information, there is nothing to retrieve, correct, or delete on your behalf. You already have full privacy by default.

Policy changes

We may update this section as our products evolve. Since we don't hold contact details, we can't notify you directly — check back periodically, or keep an eye on our Discord where we announce meaningful changes. The "Last Updated" date at the top of this page will always reflect the most recent revision.

Note: Our webshop is hosted on Etsy at etsy.com/shop/DegenDesignsEU. Etsy handles order processing, payments, and customer data as the platform operator. The section below describes our own practices on top of that, but you should also review Etsy's Privacy Policy.
§ 2.1

What we collect

Order information

To process your order and get it to you, we need:

  • Your name and shipping address.
  • Your email address (for order updates).
  • Phone number, if you provide one.
  • Payment details — processed securely by Etsy's payment infrastructure. We never see or store your card details.

Automatically collected data

Etsy and their underlying infrastructure may automatically collect IP addresses, browser type, and device information for security and fraud prevention purposes. This is standard e-commerce practice and is governed by Etsy's own policies.

Cookies

Etsy uses cookies to maintain your shopping cart, enable secure logins, and improve the shopping experience. Refer to Etsy's cookie policy for details.

§ 2.2

How we use your information

We use your data only to fulfil your order. Specifically:

  • Processing and shipping your order.
  • Sending order confirmations and shipping updates.
  • Handling returns, exchanges, and support requests.

We do not sell, trade, or share your personal data for marketing. Full stop.

§ 2.3

Data sharing

To get your order to you, we share data with:

  • Shipping providers — your name and delivery address, so they can deliver your parcel.
  • Payment processors — handled entirely by Etsy's payment infrastructure.

That's it. We don't use advertising networks, analytics trackers, or data brokers.

§ 2.4

Storage & retention

Your data is retained only as long as necessary to fulfil legal obligations (e.g. tax records), resolve disputes, and provide customer support. Once it's no longer needed, it's deleted or anonymised.

Your rights

You have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you.
  • Request corrections to inaccurate information.
  • Request deletion of your data (subject to legal requirements like tax retention obligations).
  • Opt out of non-essential cookies via Etsy's cookie controls.

Security

All transactions are handled over SSL encryption. Etsy maintains regular security updates and access controls on their platform. We limit who on our team can access order information, and we take that seriously.
