Got questions? We’ve got answers! Here’s everything you might want to know about DegenShackles:

Does this require any subscription or additional software?
Nope! Once you purchase our product, it’s yours. Fully and completely. No hidden fees, no sneaky subscriptions.

What’s the holding strength of the included electromagnets?
It depends on certain variables, but they’re rated to hold around 20kg. Need something stronger? Hit us up—we can customize something to ensure you really won’t get free.

What are the chances of me getting stuck in case of equipment failure?
Pretty small. We’ve done our best to ensure both the hardware and software are robust, safe, and thoroughly tested. But just in case:

• You should be able to easily disconnect either the electromagnet connector or the USB-C power connector to power off the device.
• Powering it with a power bank is another option, as it would hard-limit the device’s runtime.

Is the charger included?
Unfortunately, no. Since we’re shipping worldwide, compatible electrical outlets can vary. But don’t worry—you don’t need anything super fancy.

• The device with all four basic electromagnets connected and running consumes about 10W at 12V. We recommend a USB-C charger that supports 12V and up to 15W.
• If you use different electromagnets (like accessories), power draw could go up to around 25W at 12V.

Do I have to connect to your servers to use this device?
Nope! You only need to connect to our servers if you want someone else to control your device remotely. For local mode or self-bondage, you can use the fully offline mode.

Do you collect any user data?
No personal data is collected, ever. We do collect anonymized usage data (with zero personal identifiers) to help improve our products.

Are you going to support this product in the future?
Absolutely! We’re planning to continue developing the firmware, releasing new features, and fixing any bugs that pop up. And when the time comes, we’ll publicly release the firmware along with instructions so you can update it yourself.

Does it come with any cuffs?
No, it doesn’t. We are planning to create our own line of leather and metal products, but right now, we’re focused on making something we’re truly proud of. Until then, you’ll need to provide your own cuffs.

What comes in the package?

• The main device: The controller.
• Electromagnets: As many as you chose when placing your order.
• Chair mounts: The same amount as the electromagnets you chose.

What if I want to mount shackles to the wall?
Unfortunately, the included electromagnets might not be strong enough to handle someone using their full weight to struggle against them. We had to choose between lighter, more convenient electromagnets or bigger, heavier ones. We chose the lighter ones for ease of use. However, if you need a wall-mountable, more powerful variant, you can find it here.

What is your warranty?
We believe that our product is well-designed and made from high-quality materials. However, if any issues arise, we offer a one-year no-questions-asked warranty, except in cases of evident user damage. Regardless of the warranty, we aim to provide our users with options to repair their own devices themselves, through third-party repair providers, or directly with us. Can I control each of the up to four electromagnets individually?
Unfortunately, no. All of the attached electromagnets turn on and off at the same time.

What is the quality of your products?
We do our best to ensure that every single product we ship is well-designed and manufactured. While many of our parts are 3D printed—which often doesn’t associate with high-quality or durable parts due to certain plastics being brittle or weak—we conduct extensive testing to ensure our products won’t fail.
Even if a part does fail at some point:

• If your device is under warranty or the failure is likely due to a manufacturing defect, we’ll replace the damaged part.
• If it’s out of warranty, we’ll provide you with the design files to print your own replacement case or let you buy replacement parts directly from us!

• Your product gets packed straight into a sturdy cardboard box.
• We use recycled paper scraps as padding to keep everything safe and snug.
• It’s all sealed up with paper tape—no plastic required.

It’s simple, effective, and way better for the planet.

Keeping It Local
We like to keep things close to home when it comes to making our products.

• By manufacturing in-house, we can keep a close eye on quality and make sure everything’s up to our standards.
• It also means we’re not as tied up in global supply chain issues. While we still import some parts, we get things like packaging materials locally, cutting down on transport and the energy it uses.
